Ethiopia: Part 1

If you’ve talked with me for a good amount of time, Ethiopia is likely to have come up in the conversation.  My brother has been serving in the Peace Corps there for the past 2 1/2 years.  We are so proud of him, yet miss him constantly.  We have a very close family, so it is difficult not to be able to see one of my siblings whenever I want to.  Knowing that he enjoys it there makes things a little easier, along with the amazing advances in technology.  Thank you google hangouts, skype and facebook chat!  Anyways, when he got his assignment that he would be going to Africa, I told him from the beginning I would have to come and visit him.  I absolutely love to travel.  I love to see new places and occasionally go out of my comfort zone and eat something crazy but mostly it’s just about seeing the way others in this world live and love.  So, last year my husband and I made the trek to Ethiopia, had a whirlwind trip there and then headed to Tanzania for a short safari.  Then, my brother decided to stay on for one more year and I convinced my mom that her and I should go see him in his new town and visit some of the amazing places we just didn’t have time for the year before.  And that is how our mother/daughter trip began (it really didn’t take much convincing).  I’ve broken down these images into a few different posts because we were there for two whole weeks and we were constantly going places, which means there are a lot of photos!  I’m starting things off with a little photo session I did of my brother and his girlfriend while I was there because he very nicely asked me last week if he was ever going to see those images.  My poor family, they have to wait the longest to get their images back and for these images, I decided to change up my editing a little bit and try something new.  They are often my inspiration and guinea pigs when I want to experiment with my photography.  So, without anymore ramble, here is my brother and his absolutely beautiful, kindhearted girlfriend Betty.  Look at the way he just lights up looking at her.  Isn’t it the sweetest?!
