Where to start? Being asked to photograph a birth is probably the most intimate thing you can be invited to photograph! Truth be told, I have only photographed a few because of the on-call nature and having a little one at home with me. But this mama had a c-section with her first and there was a chance she would need to have another. After a few trips back and forth to the hospital for this couple, it was decided she would need another c-section so off my son went to grandma’s house! And that is where this truly remarkable morning started. To be there when a baby takes their first breath, when they meet their parents for the first time, when mama gets to hold that sweet baby for the first time – it is such an emotional, magical experience. I couldn’t be more grateful to have been there! And I really need to send a special shout out to the nurses and doctors at Mercy Hospital for being so extremely welcoming of my presence! They were amazing!
